How to Play Soccer Pools
From the Premier League to La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 — Pickster turns every matchday into a competition. Create a private pool, predict the matches, and compete with your crew all season long.
The Basics
Gather your group — invite friends, family members, or colleagues to join your soccer pool. Each matchday, players predict the upcoming matches.
League pools work just like tournament group-stage picks: for every match you predict the exact final score — both teams' goals. The closer your prediction, the more points you earn.
Draws are a real outcome in league play — about one in four matches ends level — and the scoring tiers reward you for calling a draw even when the exact score is off.
The Objective
The objective is to accumulate as many points as possible by accurately predicting matches, matchday after matchday, across the whole season.
Making Your Picks
Each matchday, players enter their score predictions through the Pickster App — set the number of goals you think each team will score using the score stepper.
Picks are open until the start of each match, and you can modify your predictions at any time before kickoff.
Scoring
League pools use a 4-tier scoring system that rewards accuracy — the same system as tournament group-stage picks. The default point values are:
• Exact Score (3 points) — You predicted the exact final score. For example, predicting 2-1 when the match ends 2-1.
• Correct Winner + Goal Difference (2 points) — You got the winner right and the goal difference matches. For example, predicting 3-1 when the match ends 2-0 (same winner, same 2-goal difference).
• Correct Draw, Not Exact (2 points) — You predicted a draw and it was a draw, but the score was different. For example, predicting 0-0 when the match ends 1-1.
• Correct Winner Only (1 point) — You picked the right winner, but the goal difference was off. For example, predicting 1-0 when the match ends 3-1.
Pool owners can personalize the point values for each tier when creating the pool.
Points are always based on the result after 90 minutes plus stoppage time — league matches never go to extra time or penalty shootouts.
Fair Play
Predictions are final once a game kicks off. To keep the competition fair for everyone, any prediction that is changed after its game has already started will be reset to the prediction that was in place at the moment of kickoff.
This policy applies equally to all participants, including pool owners and admins, and is applied automatically as part of our standings review.
Ties
Soccer pools do not use tiebreakers. If two or more players have the same number of points at the end of a matchday or at the end of the season, the prize is split equally among the tied players.
Bonus Predictions
In supported competitions, pool owners can enable bonus predictions for extra excitement — like Top Scorer (predict who finishes the season with the most goals) or final-standings predictions. Bonus predictions lock when the competition begins, so make sure to submit yours before the first match!
